Yuengling Donates Aid to Florida Bartenders and Waitstaff During COVID-19 Crisis
America’s Oldest Brewery continues its COVID-19 relief efforts with support for the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association and its charitable partnerships
POTTSVILLE, Pa. (June 9, 2020) – D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc., America’s Oldest Brewery®, announced today a partnership with the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association (FRLA) and support for its COVID-19 relief efforts. Through a commitment of $20,000, Yuengling will work alongside FRLA and its charitable partners to provide immediate emergency funding to Florida hospitality workers, bartenders and waitstaff facing significant hardships during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“In the face of today’s most unprecedented crisis, we believe the best way to get through difficult times is for communities to come together and make a collective impact toward a brighter future. Following our partnership with PRLA and the positive impact we’ve seen on Pennsylvania’s hospitality workers, we knew we wanted to also provide relief to the bartenders and waitstaff in Florida, which we consider our second home,” said Wendy Yuengling, Chief Administrative Officer and 6th generation family member, D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc. “We are proud to partner with FRLA to support its COVID-19 relief efforts and the thousands of Florida hospitality workers who have lost their jobs and incomes due to the pandemic. Through our efforts, we hope Florida and its passionate workers will continue to thrive and succeed.”
As part of its commitment, Yuengling will support FRLA’s charitable efforts and partnerships, including CORE, a nonprofit dedicated to serving food and beverage service employees and their families. Yuengling’s funding will go exclusively towards providing grants to Florida food and beverage employees who are navigating through a medical diagnosis during the COVID-19 crisis. For consumers interested in helping, donations can be made directly to CORE by visiting CoreGives.org.
“I want to thank Yuengling for their outstanding commitment to giving back and providing relief during this difficult time,” said Carol Dover, President & CEO of the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association. “This funding will directly support our industry team members and their families who have been affected by COVID-19, which has devastated so much here in Florida. This funding will make a real difference in the lives of numerous Florida families as they are fighting to get well, and we are so grateful for partners like Yuengling who lead by example and step up to help.”
The $20,000 donation to assist Florida hospitality workers is part of Yuengling’s $150,000 pledge to COVID-19 relief organizations. These contributions have supported the Gary Sinise Foundation to assist first responders in purchasing PPE (personal protective equipment), TAPS to help the military community navigate the challenges of COVID-19, including grief & stress management and financial hardships, and Hospitality Assistance Response of Pennsylvania (HARP) to provide funding to Pennsylvania’s hospitality workers. Yuengling has also partnered with brand ambassador and Philadelphia Phillies All-Star pitcher, Aaron Nola, to launch Cheers PA, a virtual celebrity fundraiser to benefit HARP.
Yuengling will continue to explore partnerships and initiatives that provide assistance to those experiencing extreme obstacles during the pandemic, while also strengthening and uplifting communities toward recovery.
