Crowd flocks to Yuengling festival in Pottsville, concert by Lee Brice
POTTSVILLE — Thousands of people gathered in the city Saturday night as country star Lee Brice performed a lively set of country rock tunes.
Brice was the headlining act of the Yuengling Stars & Stripes Summer Celebration, a daylong festival full of musical acts, vendors and other activities.
By the end of the preliminary events, a large crowd had formed around the main stage of the festival, located near the intersection of Laurel Boulevard and Progress Avenue.
The audience, eager to hear the singer, roared in approval as Brice came onstage with his five-piece band.
“Y’all ready to party tonight?” Brice yelled at the audience, holding up a can of Yuengling.
The event drew one of the biggest crowds to the city to date; Yuengling and event organizers estimate a head count of 24,000 people, according to Yuengling spokesman Paul Capelli.
