Yuengling Partners with Pink Boots for Women in Brewing Scholarship
As Yuengling’s 6th generation, the brewery’s first all-female generation, we recognize that we have an opportunity to lead by example and influence the next generations of brewers. Growing up in the beer business, we’ve had t
he chance to build knowledge and hone skills that have been passed down from generation to generation over the past 190 years. This type of education has proven invaluable as we strive to continue the success of America’s Oldest Brewery; thus, we want to provide women within the industry the same access to resources.
We have partnered with the Pink Boots Society, a nonprofit that aims to empower and help women advance their careers in the beer industry. Through networking and educational opportunities, Pink Boots fosters a community where female beer professionals can build confidence and learn from one another. On behalf of our family, we’re thrilled to award Pink Boots a $50,000 donation to launch the first-ever Yuengling Women in Brewing Scholarship!
Beginning in Fall 2019, the Yuengling Women in Brewing Scholarship will grant two passionate women in the brewing industry up to $12,500 in scholarship funds to strengthen their technical knowledge and leadership skills. We want to ensure these educational opportunities are available across the country, so a group of top brewing programs have been hand-selected to meet the needs of all brewers. Applicants may select among classroom or online courses, which are offered by the following leading institutions:
- Pennsylvania College of Technology
- University of the Sciences in Philadelphia
- Cincinnati State
- University of South Florida
- Harrisburg Area Community College
- Siebel Institute of Technology
- Cornell University
As the industry continues to evolve, it’s important for aspiring brewers to always keep learning. I personally had the great opportunity to continue my education and receive a diploma in brewing from the Siebel Institute of Technology. I’m so glad to include Siebel as part of the scholarship program for other brewers to benefit!
We are proud to work alongside the Pink Boots Society to support the goals of future female brewmasters. Through this scholarship, we hope to provide them with the foundational tools and mentorship they need to flourish within this growing industry.
The first application period for the Yuengling Women in Brewing Scholarship will close on September 30, 2019. A second application period will open in Spring 2020.
