Yuengling Hosts the 7th Annual Light Lager Jogger
On Saturday, April 27th, we held our 7th annual Yuengling Light Lager Jogger 5k Walk and Run, which drew thousands of fans near and far. The Light Lager Jogger is the only race to start and finish at America’s Oldest Brewery and has become a tradition enjoyed by many in our Pottsville community.
On Thursday and Friday leading up to the race weekend, we offered free tours for our fans to learn more about our historic Pottsville brewery that is celebrating 190 years of brewing this year. The hand-dug fermentation caves, as well as the newly renovated Gift Ship and Museum, were all open to the public to explore and were the perfect way to kick off a Yuengling-filled weekend.
Over 3,500 people participated in the race on Saturday, and registration sold out in only 48 hours! Race participants sampled our Yuengling Light Lager, the perfect way to enjoy a low-calorie beer without sacrificing flavor, and a post-race party with live music, food and entertainment.
As the 6th Generation of the Yuengling family, we are always seeking ways to give back to the community that has been so supportive of us. Operation Gratitude helps us show our appreciation for our country and those who have served as part of our year-long Lager for Heroes program. Operation Gratitude provides over 300,000 individual care packages a year to Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen deployed overseas, to their children left behind, and to First Responders, New Recruits, Veterans, Wounded Heroes, and their Care Givers.
A total of $12,472 was raised for Operation Gratitude from the 2019 Yuengling Light Lager Jogger 5K Walk and Run, which will send approximately 831 care packages to our military! Since 2013, the Yuengling Light Lager Jogger has raised a total of nearly $65,000 for Operation Gratitude.
Whether you toured America’s Oldest Brewery, ran the 5k, watched, or joined in on the post-race party, the entire 6th Generation was extremely thankful to have so many Yuengling fans supporting our family, history and Operation Gratitude.
All throughout the year, we’ll continue to celebrate America’s Oldest Brewery and our 190th Anniversary with giveaways, events like our free 190th Summer Concert Celebration featuring Better Than Ezra, or additional road racing events including the Yuengling Gold Rush 5K in Pittsburgh and Oktoberfest 5K in Bethlehem.
Stay tuned for the 2020 Yuengling Light Lager Jogger 5K and Yuengling Shamrock Marathon announcements and stay up-to-date for all events with our Yuengling Brew Crew e-newsletter, and following us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
